黙示戦隊スカイファイター
Apocalypse Sentai Skyfighter

"I can't let the Apocalypse Empire destroy this world like they did to my own... Skycomputer! Find me five teenagers with fighting spirit!" --Commander Oji

Apocalie Now!

Can Kari keep Sam's surprise birthday party a secret and survive the powerful Princess Apocalie deciding to take matters into her own hands?!

Summary

At the villains' base, Apocalie is, as usual, berating Kime-Ra over the video screen for being such a failure. Furious, she decides that she can no longer sit on the side lines... she's going to come to Earth so she can take on the Skyfighters herself! Meanwhile, Kari has been told by the other three Skyfighters that she has to distract Sam. After much duress, she is finally able to begrudgingly convince Sam to go out shopping with her.

Predictably, Sam is both bored and sassy about being forced on the trip, questioning why Kari felt so compelled to bring her along. Kari, however, is saved from having to answer the question when Fangwings attack, lead by Princess Apocalie herself!

Apocalie in the flesh, so to speak.
Kari radios in for backup from the other Skyfighters, but it'll take them five minutes to actually arrive. Sam takes on all the Fangwings singlehandedly, but even transformed, Kari knows she won't have a chance against Apocalie's shielding without the other three Skyfighters present. As Sam fights, Kari stalls for time by arguing with her, managing to hold out long enough for Sam to finish with the Fangwings. Just then, the other Skyfighters arrive, and they take on Apocalie. Even with all five of them, and the power of the shield breaker, it's an incredibly tough fight. Eventually, they manage to take the advantage, mostly thanks to Sam, with Apocalie shrieking as she reluctantly retreats.

When they return to base, Kari distracts Sam long enough for the rest to hurry back inside. When she enters, she is surprised by a set of extravagant decorations, the Skyfighters shouting "happy birthday!" Kari hands her a wrapped present; Sam jokingly threatens violence when she unwraps it to discover a kimono inside. When she realizes that it's actually just to cover up a set of kung fu movies, she apologizes profusely and hugs Kari, clearly touched.

Quotes

Sam: "So why do you want me to come along?"
Kari: "Well, uh... I thought I could use a girl's opinion about what I should get. It'd be very helpful!"
Sam: "So why not take, say, Errol?"
Kari: "Um, well, like I said, I thought a girl would be more helpful..."
Sam: "Yes, that's what I meant."

Kari: "Hey! Why don't you pick on someone your own size?!"
Apocalie: "Little girl, you're hardly my own size!"
Kari: "Right! So it wouldn't be very lady-like if you did, would it?"
Apocalie: "What?"
